Artist, Teacher, Musician
I’m an independent artist based in St. Paul, Minnesota.
My paintings feature the Mische Technique, using transparent layers of oil and egg tempera, which I studied under artist Philip Rubinov Jacobson. The themes that I explore in my work are primarily introspective, and come from a place of trying to comprehend the vastness of the universe. I treat my work as a form of spiritual practice, and use it to learn more about myself, and the people whose stories I get to tell on the canvas. While my older works focus primarily on looking inward, it is my passion to focus on highlighting perspectives of diverse communities, especially queer people.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2022. Since then I have served my community as a Teaching Artist, teaching my popular Multimedia Art class for middle schoolers at many schools and rec centers in the Twin Cities area.
In my free time I also pursue music production, and have released music through my band, Pöngflower.
